On the off chance that Nevada legitimizes cannabis, this would make it effectively accessible, and all the more new clients would get to the bad habit. The addicts of hard medications were once shoppers of maryjane; consequently, authorization it would open entryways for purchasers to get into a similar pattern (Jorge 5). Those pushing for the sanctioning of weed in Nevada refer to the restorative worth, which is very speculative and is yet to be demonstrated logically. Truth be told, the medication is called second timetable, which implies that it is yet to go to the top of the line plan. It would appear to be untrustworthy when the laws went to ensure the residents are similar ones used to decimate their wellbeing. Those pushing for the legitimization of Marijuana are just worried about the monetary development, and not the government assistance of its kin. Since the deals of tobacco have gone down, they trust Marijuana deals will help the economy. In this way, the legitimization of Marijuana in Nevada is for political and financial additions, which are probably going to be disadvantageous over the long haul (Mitchell 21). Nevada ought not authorize the ownership of Marijuana since this would animate the exchange drugs. Legitimization of Marijuana will thus prompt a greater number of instances of medication dealing than when the medication isn't authorized. Therefore, violations and absence of security in Nevada would increment. Street pharmacists would exploit the law and have different medications, for example, Cocaine and Heroin (Goldberg 252). A Swot Analysis Of Google Android Computer Science Essay
A Swot Analysis Of Google Android Computer Science Essay The Google EFFECT Google is considered one of the most rumored and regarded organizations of this time. The way that Google is behind the Android OS stage gives it an incredible feeling of believability and reasonability according to the purchasers, potential accomplices, and application designers. Moreover Androids group has all the potential assets from Google, for example, budgetary, scholarly to make it a significant player in the portable business. Gadget Options As restrict to the Apple iPhone where one doesnt have any alternatives for cell phone seller other than Apple, the Android OS is an open-source and any Mobile maker who wishes to utilize Android can do as such on their cell phone. This component gives the shoppers countless alternatives from which to look over and furthermore diminishing an opportunity to utilize the new and most recent equipment and mechanical headway in smaller scale gadgets. Serious Pricing The Android stage is extremely financially savvy to create as it is an open source stage and the authorizing courses of action are sans bother for the equipment producer. In this manner, handsets utilizing the Android stage are valued reasonably. Google applications and administrations combination As the Android stage incorporates some of the Google administrations and applications as its center usefulness just to fortify its ability and adequacy. Google administrations, for example, GMAIL, Calendar, Listen, Reader, GPS, Maps and numerous others coordinate easily with the Android stage subsequently raising it hell free for clients to synchronize their information from one stage to the next. Additionally it likewise a serious edge on its opponents in the web search and you tube as Google is the pioneer in these fields Open Source The Android stage is worked from a Linux utilizing the JAVA programming. One can look on google to discover all the basic data and source code one needs to fabricate an Android good gadget. Besides, Android is a fundamental piece of the Open Handset Alliance which is a cartel cooperating to create Android as a free portable stage framework. Shortcomings Sight and sound Support As restrict to Apple iPhone which has the amazingly famous iTunes application and commercial center, Android doesnt have a key or composed wellspring of neither media information nor a coordinated interactive media player. Despite the fact that there have been consistent upgrades in the field of applications on the Android stage, yet at the same time as of now there is no spot to go that comes remotely near what Apple is offering on this front. Dependence on gadget producers to redesign - Unlike, Apple controls when and how iPhone costumers will get new equipment and programming updates and overhauls center usefulness. Then again in any event, when google discharges a more up to date android form the costumers despite everything need to hold up till the gadget makers of their particular gadgets extensively test and adjust to the new code to ensure that it works fine on their equipment arrangement. Google is taking a shot at this issue as indicated by their declarations, as they intend to coordinate a greater amount of their center highlights of their administrations into the Android Operating System itself. Less Mature Android isn't as set up or as refined as the iPhones OS now, But consistent improvement is seen with each new arrival of the android, still significantly more is required to arrive at a similar degree of complexity as the Apple IPhone. Absence of Enterprise Support Blackberry Microsoft still have the majority of their help from Enterprise utilization. In spite of the fact that Android has made a few advances in this market, yet Android despite everything has extremely little piece of the overall industry here. It needs to keep creating Google Applications and better its incorporation capacities with Microsoft Exchange to pick up piece of the overall industry. Openings The Android Operating System has a stunning chance to get into the Tablet advertise at this moment. Google can't stand to play a cat-and-mouse game watch Apple assume control over the tablet showcase and gobble up significant lump of the piece of the overall industry as it had done before with the arrival of iphone. An Android based tablet is a phenomenal chance whenever executed appropriately. There have been many insignificant arrivals of Android tablets throughout the most recent year, however none of them are what somebody would think about an essential item. Either Google itself or a major name, for example, HP, Sony, Dell, ASUS, ACER need to discharge a stunning Android tablet so as to get a colossal piece of the pie. Not to overlook Samsung world tab with android is acceptable yet at the same time more advancement is required to beat apples I cushion Engineer Friendly Unlike the ongoing activities of Apple which has estranged the designer network by removing with them. In addition the improvement instruments of Iphone are hard to utilize and the application endorsement process is by all accounts frightfully emotional now and again. This makes iPhone application improvement extremely dreary and non remunerating for engineers On the other hand producing for Android is open and bother free for the designer as Android advancement apparatuses use Java and even C/C++. This permits designers to compose applications for Android utilizing dialects they definitely know and broadly utilized. Besides Android Software improvement pack additionally gives an emulator so application designers can test their applications without depending on the physical equipment. Google needs to accept this open door and help engineers for their endeavors through better publicizing income and application deals into monetary profits for the designer. Creating Countries Google has a chance to create less expensive gadgets utilizing Android stage in creating nations of Asia and Africa. The authorizing for android is astoundingly maker cordial and the beginning up cost is significantly less when contrasted with other portable working frameworks. The incorporation with such huge numbers of Googles other free administrations it would be a certain achievement in these business sectors. Advanced cell advertise on the ascent The PDA showcase is still exceptionally youthful and there is gigantic extent of development to occur throughout the following quite a while to 10 years. The market for advanced cell applications will profit by development of almost half in 2011, as indicated by new research. The International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker evaluates that the overall PDA advertise is required to increment 49.2% in 2011, developing multiple occasions quicker than the general cell phone showcase( Kay Ewbank, 2011, http://www.i-programmer.info/news/83-mobliephone/2203-cell phone survey.html) à â . The mix of distributed computing applications and administrations to help the Android OS is the way in to a kept up development rate and expanded piece of the overall industry potential for the Android working framework. Implanted electronic gadgets The Android OS is flawlessly ready to be the significant player in the inserted electronic gadgets showcase as an innovator in installed gadgets working framework. With upsurge of new gadgets getting implanted with keen innovations and availability to the portable systems and the web, the Android OS is in position to be the pioneer in this fragment. Dangers Apple strength The greatest danger to google android is the Iphone and its regularly developing fame with the shoppers as it has more smoother and complex interface. In addition Apples greater piece of the overall industry gives them an impact over engineers who like an income model that works for them. The regularly developing Apple piece of the overall industry permits them to charge clients for access to premium substance. Apples late arrangement changes shows its impact over engineers and makes their gigantic piece of the overall industry exceptionally hard to leave, in any event, when they embrace antagonistic designer approaches. Expanded Competition Obviously, organizations like RIM Blackberry and Microsoft won't let go of their piece of the overall industry. In particular,â the Blackberry stage which has extremely gigantic help in the undertaking market. Additionally Nokia is likewise not surrendering their expectations on the symbian stage and may make an agitated androids any desires for catching the market in the event that they build up another and refined advanced cell interface which gives their clients the simple entry for which Nokia is known for. Stage Fragmentation This is an enormous danger to the Android stage. Despite the fact that I have recorded the more choices of equipment gadgets as quality over, the danger of discontinuity is genuine too. This is the reason Google is focused on creating approaches to lessen this issue. Google doesn't need diverse custom form of Android to rise up out of their fundamental stage, which is something we saw with Linux. This was one of the essential explanations behind linux not making to the major classes when contrasting the pieces of the pie. As Google itself controls the Android Market so they have significant impact over gadget producers to meet their similarity prerequisites. Budgetary Implications Google android is an open source Operating framework for cell phone and installed electronic gadgets so right now there are no immediate money related ramifications for Google right now as still the vast majority of the applications on its commercial center are free. In any case, as android turns out to be increasingly well known Google can charge android clients for various applications accessible on its commercial center. In spite of the fact that what Google needs to do is to ensure that there is an open source versatile OS enormous enough in the market for its publicizing business. Google isn't tied in with selling Android gadgets. Google is about hunt and publicizing. Google is doing a really great job of it on the off chance that we see the numbers. A year ago alone Android represented over $130 million from showcasing incomes on android out of its absolute $850million from portable promoting, which is useful for $5.90 normal income per client. Moreover Google is hoping to harvest up $1.3 Billion from its commercial incomes from android in 2012 at $ 9.85 normal income per client with around 133 million android clients by at that point. Besides Google is hoping to r

Your Guide to Escaping a Debt Trap
Your Guide to Escaping a Debt Trap Your Guide to Escaping a Debt Trap Your Guide to Escaping a Debt TrapBeing deep in debt can feel like youre sinking in quicksand. But hope is not lost! Here are some tips to help you plan your debt trap escape.Life comes at you fast. It seems like only yesterday you received that great new credit card in the mail, and yet here you now sit, suffering the embarrassment of that very same card being declined because you maxed it out. How did this happen?Well, itâs no coincidence that people talk about debt like itâs a trap. When youâre in debt up to your eyeballs, you might as well be sinking into quicksand in the middle of the jungle.Still, that doesnât mean that you should give up. Just like thereâs always a way out of quicksand (probably like a sturdy vine? Or something?) thereâs also a way to escape from your debt, no matter how firmly it has you in its grasp. So grab your safari hats, keep your comically oversized butterfly nets at the ready, and check out these ten steps for escaping a dastardly debt trap . Ask for help. This is a good lesson for any situation, not just getting out of debt. Donât convince yourself that you have to do this all on your own. Seek help from a local nonprofit or a credit counselor. Talk to your friends and family members who are good with money.Heck, you can even to talk to them about helping you directly, either by lending you money or by cosigning for a low-interest loan or credit card.Granted, you should only do this if you are confident you can hold up your end of the bargain. The last thing you want to do is end up with even more debt plus a ruined relationship.Still, the first thing you should do when escaping a debt trap is to ask for help. Trust us.Stop spending money you donât have.Asking for help might be step one, but it only beats out this step by a razor-thin margin. Before you can start getting out of debt, you first need to stop digging yourself even deeper.Take a look at where youâve spent money over the past couple months and figure out why you are spending beyond your means. For some, this step will be easy, as the debt theyâre carrying will have been from a one-time financial or medical emergency. For others, this will mean making serious adjustments to their lifestyle. If you need to change your spending habits, then go ahead make them, pronto. The sooner you do this, the earlier youâll get out of debt.Build (and stick to) a budget.Good news, the actions you took in step two have already gotten you started on step three. With a budget, you are going to stop letting your spending rule your life. Instead, youâll make a plan for where your money is going to go.Take your last three months of expenses and put it into an Excel documentâ"or use one of these handy budgeting apps.Separate your needs from your wants, or things like rent and car payments that you must pay versus things like movie tickets and late-night rideshares that you can cut out.Prioritizing your needs over your wants is the key to a good budge t, especially when you need to pay down excess debt. The more you can put towards savings and debt repayment, the better off youâll be.Make a debt repayment plan.If you try and pay down your debt without a plan, you are dooming yourself to failure. So donât do that.Instead, make a plan that is both reasonable and that leaves you some wiggle room in case an unexpected bill emerges. (For more on that, see the next entry.)No matter what kind of plan you make, it canât rely on you paying only the minimum payments. Your budget needs to carve out room for extra funds. The two best debt repayment plans out there are the Debt Snowball and the Debt Avalanche methods. With both of them, you put all your extra debt repayment funds towards one debt at a time.People will swear by the Debt Avalanche method because it means paying off your highest interest debts first, but that can take a while. The Debt Snowball, on the other hand, focuses on paying off your smallest debt first, which will gi ve you early victories. For many folks, thatâs encouragement theyâll sorely need.Build an emergency fund.Throwing all of your money towards debt repayment is all well and good, but it does come with a big downside: If you donât have any money in savings, youâll have to take on more debt any time a surprise expense comes your way.The way to avoid that is to simultaneously build an emergency fund. While this might slow down your debt repayments somewhat, the financial security itâll provide is well worth it.When you make a budget, set aside money from each paycheck that goes right into a savings account. Heck, you can even get money in cash and put it in an envelope under your mattress. These funds are for emergency expenses, so they need be easy to access, but youâll also have to avoid using them for unnecessary purchases and splurges.Your initial goal with an emergency fund should be $1,000. But really, the ideal size for an emergency fund is six months worth of living ex penses.Pay yourself first. This is a simple but powerful financial lesson. Paying yourself first means putting your long-term financial needs before everything else.In this case, you should figure out how much you want to put into savings and towards debt repayment every month. Once you have those numbers in mind, only then do you turn your attention towards building the rest of your budget. It might sound a little silly, but youâd be surprised what can happen when you change up your financial priorities. You might call this the financial equivalent of the baseball diamond from Field of Dreams: build these savings into your budget, and the money will come.Be careful with debt consolidation. One way to pay down your debt is to consolidate all your different debts into one single loan or credit card with a lower interest rateâ"or maybe with no interest at all.But debt consolidation comes with dangers all its own, especially with credit cards. Using a zero percent APR offer on a credit card to consolidate your debt can make your debt payments go farther, but what about all those old cards?Closing those cards could actually hurt your credit score, but leaving them open invites a lot of temptation. If youâre not careful, you could end up racking up even more debt. Thatâs the last thing you need! You need to be very, very careful, and keep those old credit cards in a place where you canât access them very easily.Increase your income. The faster you can get out of debt, the more money youâll save in interest and the sooner youâll be able to put that extra money towards stuff thatâs way more fun or productive or both. But unless you want to start hunting local pigeons for food, thereâs only so much room that you can carve out of your budget. The only other option, then, is to increase your income! You can do this by taking on a second job or a fruitful side hustle. The one thing youâll want to watch out for is overwork and burnout, as that can lead you to ma ke emotional splurge purchases. If you arenât able to swing a side gig, you can look for a better, higher-paying job, or ask your boss for a promotion!Avoid predatory loans. For folks with bad credit, tight budgets and meager savings, emergency expenses often mean taking out a bad credit loan or no credit check loan to make ends meet. This is something you do your best to avoid in general, but especially if youâre trying to pay down your debt.Predatory lenders offering short-term payday loans, cash advances, and title loans with ridiculously high annual interest rates will likely drive you even deeper into the hole.Beyond a simple debt trap, they could leave stuck in a vicious cycle of debt, where you keep making payments without ever getting closer to paying your loan off!If you must take out a bad credit loan, look into a long-term installment loan, as their amortizing interest and more reasonable payments can help keep you on track.Fix your credit score. If youâve spent years t rapped in debt, the odds are good that your credit score is in the tank. (For reference: A credit score under 630 is considered âbad credit,â but even scores below 670 can seem too dodgy for traditional lenders.)The amount of debt you owe makes up 30 percent of your FICO score, so getting out of debt should help your score immensely. But donât get overconfident!A better score will help you borrow money with better terms and at lower rates, so order a free copy of your credit report and see where exactly your score can be improved.Hereâs a tip: If your years in debt caused any late or missed payments, make sure you make all your payments on time moving forward. The only credit score component more vital than your amounts owed is your payment history. You can also follow these tips to AVOID debt traps altogether.Guess what? It turns out that spending beneath your means, maintaining a budget, and building your savings are all great ways to stay out of debt in the first place! Ju st follow the advice weâve laid out in this article, and your financial future should be debt-trap free!If you want to read more about managing your finances responsibly, check out these related posts from OppLoans:How to Responsibly Maximize Your Credit Card RewardsThe (Comprehensive) Coupleâs Guide To Budgeting8 Ways To Save Money Today, Tomorrow and Every Day AfterFrom Budget to Baller: 6 Tips to Grow Your MoneyWhat are your best strategies for getting out of debt? Global Positioning System Decreasing Crop Chemical...
Decreasing Chemical Application with Technology Works Cited Not Included Many people may wonder why it is so important to decrease chemical application on the farm. When people go to the store they often do not think about what goes into the apple or piece of bread they eat. The more chemicals that farmers use on the crops that are sold to the general public increase the chance that those chemicals get into the food we eat. There are many ways that the government and farmers are trying to reduce the amount of chemicals they are using. These range from simply doing crop rotation to genetically modifying plants and animals. Some of the most common ways farmers are decreasing chemical application with technology areâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Major new chemical resistant crops include oilseeds, corn, and cotton. Herbicide tolerant corn is now, including varieties that tolerate popular herbicides based on glyphosate, glufosinate ammonium, and on imidazolinone ( U.S. Farmers pg. 1). This is a big break through for farmers because they can spray chemicals that wonââ¬â¢t kill the crop that they spray. There are many ways that biotechnology can be achieved, one of these is Recombinant DNA technology, this has reached a stage where scientists can take a piece of DNA containing one or more specific gene from nearly any organism, including plants, animals, bacteria, or viruses, and introduce it into a specific crop species. This is frequently been referred to as genetic engineering (Persley, Gabrielle pg. 1). Another common type of DNA technology is genetically-modified organism (GMO). This is an organism that has been modified or transformed using modern techniques of genetic exchange. There are many people that fear biotechnology; they think that it will end up causing allergies, and super weeds. These people feel that biotechnology should be done with traditional crop breeding. Using traditional breeding techniques would take way too long and would raise the cost drastically. Biotechnology is an exact science and people that think super weeds such as Jointed Goat Grass, would be the result of biotechnology. History plays a very significant role in the development and stability of any nation. It serves as an indicator and in some ways an explanation of the current state of any nation. Citizens take pride in recalling or reminiscing how their nation has survived and emerged triumphant over the years. We will write a custom essay sample on A history denied or any similar topic only for you Order Now Things that had happened in the past, which inspired the current state and will continue shaping the future. The case of tracing the history of Africa seems to be a controversial one. Historians have raised issues over the historical accounts of the African to be deceiving as most of them were developed by Europeans. Some, who found discrepancies with the European documented or written history, suggested a restudy or a rethinking of the real African History as the new generation of Africans has all the right to be fed with appropriate and unbiased information. In revisiting the African history, historians, instead of relying on European references studied other sources like the African culture (oral tradition and language), and the African art which all served as alternative foundation for the African history. What a harsh reality for the Africans to have this tremendous experience ââ¬â they had more than enough of the discrimination and worse, even their very own history was denied to them. Europeans have, in one way or another altered or edited the reality behind the history of the African people in different aspects of their way of living in the past.à In terms of civilization, they have built early civilizations in Africa but the Europeans made them believe that Africa was not capable of establishing civilization then. The problem with the true African history was the lack of sufficient tangible evidences. Most of the history was passed from one generation to another through verbal story telling. Such method made it difficult to preserve the genuine history, which gave the Europeans the opportunity to transcribe and document the flow of events in a manner that would please them and that would justify the slavery and prejudice Africans experiences with the Whites. The Europeanââ¬â¢s version of the African history gave credit to the former as the beginners of civilization there. And they were successful in spreading a false history that favored them and emphasized that they were indeed the superior race.à But there were evidences found later that Africans had been civilized even before the Europeans arrived. They were already educated on spinning and weaving cloth, twisting and plaiting ropes, and even raising domestic livestock. But these information were all denied from them and were revealed just recently. Another gloomy reality concerning the African history was the denial of the cultural heritage. Native works of arts and masterpieces were illicitly brought and displayed in museums outside of Africa, defying the fact that they were African original creations and possessions. Different artifacts found in Mapungubwe Hill were evident of the wealth and differentiation of the Africans before the Whites took over. he denial of the truth for the Africans on what truly happened in their past had greatly affected how they perceive themselves. The issue on racism, also introduced by the Whites, left the African people unconfident about themselves and their culture. They created a mindset that the better race is that who have originated form the West. To date, Africans have not seized building and developing their own, true history. From all the challenges and struggles they have surpassed, they will continually. It will be imperative that the new generation of Africans and historians as well, learn to view their very own history from the perspective of their ancestors rather than from the European point of view. The future African generation hopefully will not be confused anymore between the real and the invented African history. La Story free essay sample
Rhetorical Analysis Alec Waugh, a British novelist once said, ââ¬Å"you can fall in love at first sight with a place as with a personâ⬠. A place can have so much character to not only make a person fall in love at first sight, but to keep that person entranced by love for the place. The city one might picture is Paris the city of love or the islands of Hawaii. However, this city is not the typical city that comes to mind. It is the city with busy streets and beautiful people, Los Angeles. The beaches of Los Angeles can be breathtaking, but it is the personality of Los Angeles that keeps a person around. A story based on a life of a Los Angeles native portrays the city as a land of opportunity. L. A. Story is a romantic comedy set in the city of Los Angeles which ââ¬Å"tells the story of Harris K. We will write a custom essay sample on La Story or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Telemacher, an L. A. weatherman who falls in and out of love with the aid of a talking freeway signâ⬠(wiki). The city is portrayed to be as a character itself with the ideas of the two people that created the story. Mick Jackson, the director, started out as a British television and movie director, while his partner Steve Martin, the screenwriter, is an American comedian and writer. With their differing perspective of the city, they are able to create a world for their Los Angeles resident audience and their foreign audience to fall in love with. Jackson and Martin use situational humor to portray exaggerated stereotypes of the film to convince those interested in Los Angeles of the possibilities the city has to offer. The ridiculous portrayal of the city is exemplified by the driving of Harris Telemacher in the early scenes of the movie. The stereotype of the people of Los Angeles having terrible driving skills is played through Harris. As he leaves for his day to work he skips all of the traffic by going through all of his neighborsââ¬â¢ yards. The part that makes one smile in these unreal scenes is the neighborââ¬â¢s waving to him as he drives through their yards and checking the time to see if he is on time, and he even fixes his hair ignoring the road in front of him while he cuts across the entire block. This exaggeration of Los Angeles drivers not only give the audience a chuckle, but it presents the idea of how Los Angeles as a city sends a message of how opportunities in the city and endless. The idea is implanted in oneââ¬â¢s head of how such an impossible way of driving is actually possible for Harris. This situational humor is an exaggerated stereotype of the reckless drivers in Los Angeles, and the exaggeration in this scene captures the audienceââ¬â¢s attention and convinces them about the outrageous possibilities one may have in the city of Los Angeles. This scene is so farfetched that only by living in the city of Los Angeles a person would have the thought to drive recklessly along the pavement and t hrough alleys. The situational humor is there for the audience to see the likelihood of something like this to happen for them to be encouraged about how the city is opportunistic. Jackson and Martin use these embellished conventions of the city and incorporate it into a ââ¬Å"fanciful romantic comedy whose wildest and craziest notion is that Los Angeles, for all of its eccentricities, is a great place to liveâ⬠(Camby). The portrayal of Harris driving carelessly is important to persuade the audience of how impossibility can turn into possibilities in the city of Los Angeles. A horrific natural disaster is actually common in the L. A. rea, but with the masterminds of Jackson and Martin, a moment usually known for destruction, they make into a funny incident. At the first encounter Harris has with his love interest Sara, an earthquake disrupts their time at lunch. However in the movie, for those that were accustomed to the life in Los Angeles were not affected by the earthquake at all. Sara looks around in confusion as everyone remains the same while their food and drinks fall over the table in the massive earthquake. This obvious overstatement of Los Angeles quakes and the characterââ¬â¢s reactions to them is another situation where the rhetors use comedy into play.Although these occurrences of earthquakes are very frequent in Los Angeles, they are not enough for a person living in Los Angeles to ignore it completely and keep going along their business. The contrast between the reactions of those that live in Los Angeles and those that are foreign are presented in this scene to accentuate the absurdity in the scene. Sara looks around dumbfounded as everyone sits still going about their conversations. The foreign and non- foreign audiences are able to appreciate this humorous moment of exaggerated stereotype and engage in the spread of the message. The idea being portrayed here is the fantasy element in the movie. This invention of a place where earthquakes are an everyday occurrence gives the audience the message that in Los Angeles they can also make their fantasy reality. Because these stereotypes are so specific to the city it allows the audience to recognize the many characteristics that Los Angeles has compared to another city. The earthquake portrayed in the scene is so exaggerated it presents the audience how a scene so unreal can be made into reality which gives them idea of how in Los Angeles their dreams can be made into reality.Another particular characteristic that is portrayed of Los Angeles are the ridiculous names that people have in the city. With the many love interests Harris has in the movie, he meets a younger valley girl named ââ¬Å"SanDeE*â⬠. Although her name is not uncommon, the point she makes about the spelling is the situational humor that is portrayed through exaggeration of the outrageous names people have. She is ââ¬Å"the ââ¬Ëmanic pixie dream girlââ¬â¢ type, SanDeE* isââ¬â as [one] might discern from the spelling of her name, which includes the star at the endââ¬â a bit immature and flakyâ⬠(Cam pbell). This absurd portrayal of Los Angeles is like SanDeE*ââ¬â¢s absurd spelling of her name. Not only is the spelling of her name another exaggeration of the atypical things people in Los Angeles do, it is the representation of how in Los Angeles one can be anybody and do anything they want, even add a star to the end of their name. Examples of people having unusual names are apparent in Hollywood, with celebrities like Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow naming their child Apple, or Sting and Frances Tomelty naming their baby girl Fuchsia (Crerar). However, Jackson and Martin take it another step up and take her names spelling and adding a star at the end of it to make the name even more ridiculous. With this exaggeration, the audience is given the message that in Los Angeles anything is possible, even having your name spelled with a star at the end or maybe even a hyphen. The audience is engaged in the message of the movie because of the humor that Jackson and Martin use in these exaggerations of the situations. The audience that lives in Los Angeles can relate to this and und erstand how this is unlikely and understand the comedic aspect and are able to relate this to the message of the possibility in Los Angeles. The audience that does not live in the city can also understand the message the rhetors are trying to present with their sense of unusualness of the name being spelled like that too. The effect of the rhetors understanding where their audience is coming from gives them a better idea of what type of humor to use. This is why the conventional view of Los Angeles is presented in exaggeration to show the fantasy of the movie. This fantasy gives the audience the idea of the possibility they can find in the city. Los Angeles, known for its streets filled with robbers and thieves is portrayed in a humorous way when Jackson and Martin use situational humor to exaggerate this stereotype. Harris and SanDeE*, just after finishing dinner, wait in line to pull out money of an ATM machine. The unusual part of this scene is in the background where they are actually on the opposite line of a bunch of robbers who are waiting to take their money after they get it out of the ATM machine.Harris gives hands them money as if it is a routine that everyone in Los Angeles is use to. Of course people know that this definitely does not happen, but this exaggeration gets a chuckle out of the audience. This scene is not meant to frighten the audience how robbers will take their money if they were to visit Los Angeles because it is portrayed in a satirical way. This comical scene is another example of the message Jackson and Martin convey to the audience. Harris creates a world that makes it seem like everything is from his imagination. How his imagination is actually portrayed through his life shows the audience that if they are in Los Angeles they can make their fantasy a reality also. This scene is so farfetched that the audience is able to believe that anything in their wildest dreams can even be made into something real. The situational humor of the ATM machine focuses on the stereotype and evidently is able to convince those that are interested in Los Angeles that their biggest dreams can come true. The most apparent example of showing how the city brings possibility is when the characters observe a painting with their own interpretation. The scene is with Harris and his friend admiring a painting. However, the camera angle comes from the canvas itself so the only image that is shown to the audience is the face and reaction of Harris and his friends. They describe the painting and their feelings towards it with remarks like, ââ¬Å"look at the way heââ¬â¢s holding her, itââ¬â¢s almost filthyâ⬠. The anticipation to see the actual painting is finally resolved when the camera moves and the audience is left to see that the painting is a rectangular mix of red paint. This funny moment is of the stereotype of the artists of Los Angeles.People in Los Angeles are so eclectic and modern their paintings can be interpreted in so many ways. It is directly relatable to the message how in Los Angeles one can live any way they want. Nothing can stop them from believing in what they can and cannot do. The characters can interpret the painting any way they like and no one is stopping them from saying it is wrong. However they completely exaggerated their interpretations of the painting saying how a man is holding a woman and clearly there is no apparent picture or outline of an actual person. The audience laughs at the ridiculous comments they make about the painting only to understand the message that is presented to them in this humorous way. Their exaggerated comments on the painting allow the audience to also think in the same ways as the characters. Jackson and Martin are able to use this situational humor to present the possibilities in Los Angeles. The possibilities of analyzing a painting relates to the possibilities of the city itself. For the characters it is possible that the painting is filthy and dirty to portray the message of how the audience can think or do anything they wanted and it can be a possibility. Throughout the movie, the city is given a voice to communicate to Harris. This character of Los Angeles is portrayed through the talking freeway sign. From the beginning Harris encountered this sign which gave him advice about his life and helped him through his time of confusion. The sign was very humorous because it was so unlikely for an actual sign to be communicating with an actual person. This situational humor of how Harris stand their actually speaking to the freeway sign is another example of how the audience is encouraged to believe the opportunities Los Angeles has to offer. Harris begins to trust this sign and after just one conversation with it, does not think that it is at all weird. The audience believes that anything is possible in Los Angeles because Harris makes it possible that a freeway sign can help him with his life and able to talk to him. This scene conveys to the audience that in Los Angeles anything can happen; their dreams can become a reality, even a freeway sign can come to life.

Gender Arguments Essays
Gender Arguments Essays Gender Arguments Essays Ashley Kenar Ellyn Lem English 102 May 11, 2015 Paper 5 Gender Wrongs What makes a boy a traditional boy or what makes a girl a traditional girl? Genetics are what classifies male and female. That pesky little Y chromosome has shaped the way gender has been perceived. What if everyone live in an alternate universe where feminine articles were manly and manly articles were feminine? To some people this makes their blood boil, or even leave an uneasy feeling in their stomach. Fashion scholar Valerie Steele who is the director of the museum at the Fashion Institute Technology states that ââ¬Å"in the 18th century, it was perfectly masculine for a man to wear a pink silk suit with floral embroidery [â⬠¦] it was considered slightly masculine as a diminutive of red, which was thought to be a ââ¬Ëwarlikeââ¬â¢ color.â⬠Overtime colors have switched so now blue is masculine while pink is geared towards women. People have clung to a specific gender, but in reality, not everyone feels the need to abide to the classification of male or female. Afte r researching this topic objectively for the last two months, there have been many arguments that support people following gender norms. Letââ¬â¢s break that norm. Who doesnââ¬â¢t like a little deviance? We have been a country that has valued the idea of freedom and individuality. What happens when people get their rights taken away? They revolt, riot, petition, or go out of their way to get their freedoms back. So since many people have forced individuals to

Fascinating Facts About Caterpillars
Fascinating Facts About Caterpillars Surely youve seen a caterpillar in your lifetime, and youve probably even handled one, but how much do you know about Lepidopteran larvae? These cool facts about caterpillars will give you new respect for what remarkable creatures they are. A Caterpillar Has Just One Job to Eat During the larval stage, the caterpillar must consume enough to sustain itself through its pupal stage and into adulthood. Without proper nutrition, it may not have the energy to complete its metamorphosis. Malnourished caterpillars may reach adulthood, but be unable to produce eggs. Caterpillars can eat an enormous amount during a life cycle stage that typically lasts several weeks. Some consume 27,000 times their body weight during this life phase. Caterpillars Increase Their Body Mass by as Much as 1,000 Times or More The larval stage of the life cycle is all about growth. Within the span of a few weeks, the caterpillar will grow exponentially. Because its cuticle, or skin, is only so pliable, the caterpillar will molt multiple times as it gains size and mass. The stage between molts is called an instar, and most caterpillars go through 5 to 6 instars before pupating. No wonder caterpillars consume so much food! A Caterpillars First Meal Is Usually Its Eggshell In most cases, when a caterpillar ecloses (hatches) from its egg, it will consume the remainder of the shell. The outer layer of the egg, called the chorion, is rich in protein and provides the new larvaà with a nutritious start. A Caterpillar Has as Many as 4,000 Muscles in Its Body Thats one seriously muscle-bound insect! By comparison, humans have just 629 muscles in a considerably larger body. The caterpillars head capsule alone consists of 248 individual muscles, and about 70 muscles control each body segment. Remarkably, each of the 4,000 muscles is innervated by one or two neurons.à Caterpillars Have 12 Eyes On each side of its head, a caterpillar has 6 tiny eyelets, called stemmata, arranged in a semi-circle. One of the 6 eyelets is usually offset a bit and located closer to the antennae. You would think an insect with 12 eyes would have excellent eyesight, but thats not the case. The stemmata serve merely to help the caterpillar differentiate between light and dark. If you watch a caterpillar, youll notice it sometimes moves its head from side to side. This most likely helps it judge depthà and distance as it navigates somewhat blindly. Caterpillars Produce Silk Using modified salivary glands along the sides of their mouth, caterpillars can produce silk as needed. Some caterpillars, like gypsy moths, disperse by ballooning from the treetops on a silken thread. Others, such as eastern tent caterpillars or webworms, construct silk tents in which they live communally. Bagworms use silk to join dead foliage together into a shelter. Caterpillars also use silk when they pupate, either to suspend a chrysalis or to construct a cocoon. Caterpillars Have 6 Legs, Just as Adult Butterflies or Moths Do There are way more than 6 legs on most caterpillars youve seen, but most of those legs are false legs, called prolegs, which help the caterpillar hold onto plant surfaces and allow it to climb. The 3 pairs of legs on the caterpillars thoracic segments are the true legs, which it will retain in adulthood. A caterpillar may have up to 5 pairs of prolegs on its abdominal segments, usually including a terminal pair on the hind end.à Caterpillars Move in a Wavelike Motion, From Back to Front Caterpillars with a full complement of prolegs move in a fairly predictable motion. Usually, the caterpillar will first anchor itself using the terminal pair of prolegs and then reach forward with one pair of legs at a time, starting from the hind end. Theres more going on than just leg action, though. The caterpillars blood pressure changes as it moves forward, and its gut, which is basically a cylinder suspended inside its body, advances in sync with the head and rear end. Inchworms and loopers, which have fewer prolegs, move by pulling their hind ends forward in contact with the thorax and then extending their front half. Caterpillars Get Creative When It Comes to Self Defense Life at the bottom of the food chain can be tough, so caterpillars employ all kinds of strategies to avoid becoming a bird snack. Some caterpillars, such as the early instars of black swallowtails, look like bird droppings. Certain inchworms in the family Geometridae mimic twigs, and bear markings that resemble leaf scars or bark. Other caterpillars use the opposite strategy, making themselves visible with bright colors to advertise their toxicity. A few caterpillars, like the spicebush swallowtail, display large eyespots to deter birds from eating them. If youve ever tried to take a caterpillar from its host plant, only to have it fall to the ground, youve observed it using thanatosis to thwart your efforts to collect it. A swallowtail caterpillar can be identified by its smelly osmeterium, a special defensive stink gland just behind the head. Many Caterpillars Use the Toxins From Their Host Plants to Their Own Advantage Caterpillars and plants co-evolve. Some host plants produce toxic or foul-tasting compounds meant to dissuade herbivores from munching their foliage. But many caterpillars can sequester the toxins in their bodies, effectively using these compounds to protect themselves from predators. The classic example of this is the monarch caterpillar and its host plant, milkweed. The monarch caterpillar ingests glycosides produced by the milkweed plant. These toxins remain within the monarch through adulthood, making the butterfly unpalatable to birds and other predators. Obesity and hormonal imbalance Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Obesity and hormonal imbalance - Essay Example Heredity and age-related changes are among them, but, perhaps, hormonal violations are at the top of this list (Bray &York, 1997). Hormonal failure is the manifestation of the hormonal violations, which are available in an organism and can be caused by various reasons. Thus, hormonal failure influences not only the state of reproductive system of a woman, but also can cause deterioration of her physical and emotional health. Hormonal failure can be expressed as violation of a menstrual cycle or manifestation of a climacteric syndrome. Violation of hormonal balance can affect the course of pregnancy and childbirth causing serious problems in certain cases ââ¬Å"Obesity is associated with multiple alterations in the endocrine system, including abnormal circulating blood hormone concentrations, which can be due to changes in the pattern of their secretion and/or metabolism, altered hormone transport and/or action at the level of target tissues. In recent years a great stimulus in both basic and clinical research has, on one hand, produced a great deal of knowledge on the pathophysiology of obesity, and, on the ot her, led to the discovery of new hormonesâ⬠(Pasquali and Vicennati, 2001, p. 225). Physicians have studied this question for long and came to the conclusion that fluctuations of level of some hormones in an organism directly influence weight. Hormones are biologically active agents, which participate in many vital processes, including development, growth and metabolism. ââ¬Å"No matter how an imbalance manifests on the outside, the internal reality remains the sameââ¬âany and all hormonal imbalance leads to difficulty losing weight and increased risk of obesity. Unfortunately, the most common imbalances cannot be solved by dieting alone. In fact, they can prevent successful fat loss, even when great diet and exercise plans are in placeâ⬠(Turner, 2015). The thyroid gland, liver, adrenal glands and other bodies are responsible for their development and

Analysis of the book First Globalization by Geoffrey C. Gunn Essay
Analysis of the book First Globalization by Geoffrey C. Gunn - Essay Example We will first focus on chapter seven of the book which is titled civilization encounters; this chapter focuses on civilization, Asia's first encounter with civilization was the arrival of missionaries and merchants. Although there was resistance to the Jesuit in china and the restriction of importing European text, there was a change in the people's way of life due to the western culture. People started to adopt the western culture and this can be termed as globalization. Catholic missionaries arrived in Japan in the year 1549, the missionaries were Portuguese and Spain sponsored Jesuits, religion was seen as an integral part of the state and also seen as having extra benefits other than spiritual benefits. Chapter six is entitled enlightenment views of Asian governance, this chapter focuses on the adoption of various forms of governments in Asia, there was high acceptance of forms of government which was influenced by earlier Jesuit writings, Baron however used travel literature to critique despotism in china and also Muslim courts, and it was Plato's idea that china be ruled by a king. The enlightenment of the whole of Asia through adoption of various forms of government also led to early ... Chapter eight is titled livelihoods, this chapter focuses on the introduction of records in Europe concerning Asia, and an example is Luis De Frois who wrote about the differences in early modernity between Japan and Europe, another example is the work of Marco Polo who wrote about the everyday life of china, this writings significantly changed the peoples way of life leading to people learning other languages and the emergence of the major European languages. Written literature worked as a way of popularizing the knowledge and ideas of a certain region, for example the invention of vital geographical knowledge by Europeans who also gained more information from the Arabs. This was aided by the invention of the print media in Europe leading to more and more regions being popularized. There was also the emergence of the alternative literature which was referred to as alternative due to the fact that it seemed to mock the real text, it was characterized by abstract scientific ideas and a good example is the well known book Gulliver travelers, this book however portrays a lot of Asian history and wisdom. Chapter nine is titled language, power and hegemony, the author describe the success of missionary in Asia as a result of mastering the Asian languages, the missionaries were the first lexicographers of the Asian languages while the Portuguese used their own language to their conquest or even worked with interpreters. European colonizers proclaimed the superiority of their language to their conquest and therefore through this there was the adoption of European languages. There was also the emergence of the translation of European literature that would as a result aid in scientific learning by various regions, this

A Study On Barbie Global Market Marketing Essay
A Study On Barbie Global Market Marketing Essay International marketing is the performance of a companys product and services to consumers in more than one nation to produce profit. It is one of the most vital elements of marketing functions to trade their companys products or services internationally rather than locally. This brings more advantages and benefits the organization itself as well as the country. However, trying to trade internationally influences by many factors and cause difficulties. And it is the task of these companies to study these factors prior in order to initiate business or trade with other countries effectively. These factors include the culture, economic and political factors. This essays discussion base on the case study, Barbie: The American Girl Goes Global. Barbie is worldwide brand name invented by Ruth Handler defining as a small scale anatomically improbable modelled plastic figure of a human being especially a childs plaything and collectable dolls. It is the brand name for Mattel Inc., the organization for producing these toys and dolls. Barbie effectively starts its operation and selling out of its products at the American Toy Fair in New York City in 1959. Since then, Barbie become popular and operate effectively due to its increasing sales and revenues thus earning high profit compare to other American toy markets. Therefore, Mattel Inc expands its marketing situation and trade internationally where Barbie is currently selling out in more than 150 countries. These include European countries, Middle East, India and Japan. Therefore, this writing will discuss how Mattel Inc. deals with different culture issues, economic environment and political factors in these different countries in trying to market its products, the American Barbie doll. Throughout the given case study, it was basically talk about how different culture affects Mattel in trying to sell Barbie in the above mentioned countries. Culture is the acquired knowledge that people use to interpret experience and generate social behaviour (Keegan Green 2003). Each country has its own culture values and different from one another. And because Barbie trade worldwide, Mattel tend to carefully study the culture environment in those countries and analyze culture issues arise. The cultural issues of these countries affected the selling of Barbie can be reflected from different things. These include the language use, the religion involves, the social behaviour and the traditional dress code of each country. However, some economic issues and political factors appear to influence its international trading. Barbie is a worldwide brand and they first entered the US market for selling their products because it was the place of founder. Since then, Ruth Handler realizes the importance of children then decides to produce Barbie to motivate her daughters dream of her future. These products were three dimensional adult female dolls using by children to play with and it was popular in America because they initiate with high amount of sales of total 351,000 dolls at $3 each for the first year on the market. This occurs because Mattel identify its target market such as the group of children up of 1 to 11 years old and they fully satisfy their needs for toys made of plastic and long lasting rather than the first available dolls were made of paper and cardboard. However, moving to other countries cause Mattel to create changes on Barbie according to culture issues of each county to make effective. For instance, Mattel was successfully launched in India at 1995 because they make changes of Barbie appearance according to local taste of painted with a head spot and dressed in a sari but still the universally recognize Barbie. When moving to Middle East, culture factors in these countries are very strict and Barbie face difficulties in trying to sell their products in these countries because they face opposition on religious and social grounds. Women in these countries including Iran and Egypt have very strict dress code. They are not allowed to expose any part of their hair and due to Islamic law they have to completely cover their body and only their eyes are shown. But the appearance of these female dolls highly affected their culture values because Barbie female doll illustrate the opposite side of their dress code. This causes parents and religious leaders to more strange reactions with the culture values represent by Barbie and Ken and they believe Barbie is seen in the Middle East where modesty matters as something of a tramp. Therefore, Egypt government exist with setting up government agencies for producing local dolls aimed to provide Islamic alternative to Barbie and trying to eliminate the image of Barbie in their nations. These dolls called Laila were making in accordance to the local taste of Egypt people and their culture because local toy producer believe Barbie is more dangerous than an American missile. Laila also produced according to recommendation from the Arab league department for children suggested that there is cultural gap when an Arab girl plays with a doll like Barbie because the average Arab girls reality is different from Barbie. Thus Mattel face more challenges and more competitive market place due to Laila because they appeared in local taste using Arab costumes for decorating and designing their quite and serious looking doll. Meantime, Iran has its own local doll producer, Sara and Dara still to compete against Barbie. These dolls apply the same situation as Egypt in producing with the local culture taste by featuring traditional clothing, headscarves and are available with family members thus reinforcing the importance of family for Iranian children. Meantime Sara and Dara are to provide an Islamic alternative to Barbie. However, Mattel did not attempt to stop there though they are forbidden but continue fight against Sara and Dara. And thus still able to operate successfully by gaining high revenues with high profit due to higher price with approximately 7 times the average monthly salary. Though that Mattel faced tough position in Egypt and Iran but still continue to struggle against local competitors. Facing the challenges of competition, Barbie has been losing market share to Susi the Brazilian local dolls made by local company, Estrela. This company has licensed to distribute Barbie throughout Brazil. Brazil is the best chance of successful marketing for Mattel because they account 37 percent of the countrys annual sales earn from toys market. Additionally, Brazil is one of the largest countries in South America in according to its rich economy, population and geographic territory. Unfortunately, the selling of the Susi dolls increase more than the Barbie sales in terms of cultural values. The Susi dolls were designed as an image of the Brazilian girls and reflect values as a true Brazilian girl and every Brazilian is proud of it rather than showing what they want to be. So instead of helping distributing the Barbie doll all over Brazil, the Barbie face a strong competition cause losing of their market share to Estrela the company that produce the Susi doll. Distributing Barbie throughout the Asian countries, Mattel faces great difficulties overcome the worlds second largest toy market, Japan. In terms of economic environment, Japan has high, favourable and competitive economic situation. Japan is a high income country, the second largest economy in the world and has large industrial capacity. And thus, Japan and the United States face strong and big challenges to compete each other because they have similar economic situation. Therefore, during its first 20 years of operated in Japan, Mattel realised that it is the most difficult situation a company faced because of their complex distribution system. Additionally, Mattel attempt to face strong competition from local brand and local competitor. For example, Mattel enters into marketing without studying the Japanese requirements for foreign investor to sell out their products. And thus, selling out Barbie in Japan has only a limit success because Japanese girl didnt know what the product is and it didnt work, commented by the Chief Executive Officer of mid 1990s, Josh Amerman. With that issue, a problem of low sales rise then Mattel joins with Takara, a Japanese toy specialist in order to make a difference for the Japanese to understand their product. They then join forces with Bandai, the largest toy company in Japan to sell their products legally after terminating relationship with Takara due to license disagreement. Moreover, a cultural fact appears that the Japanese has valued their dolls seriously because of their strong cultural tradition with a heritage of over 800 years and ceremonial importance. Consequently, Mattel started to cope with the Japanese culture in a view of the fact stated but they then discovered that the Japanese girls has preferred the local American Barbie is the best and the most well known. Mattel then dropped forces with Bandai and operates its own marketing office then introduced the American Barbie to Japan and they experienced a success with Long Hair Star Barbie as one of the top-selling dolls in Japan. These cultural factors helps increase the amount of Mattel global marketing. Fortunately, Mattel rejoined with Bandai once again and forming marketing, sales and product development to overcome the complex Japanese distribution system thus reducing operating expenses. Efficiently, a rise of 10 percent in the international revenue indicates from the 31 percent of Mattels total revenue as according to the good performance of Mattel marketing and their share to the international revenues. This effect of International Marketing helps Mattel improves the increasing of revenues and their shares. In conclusion, Barbie is fun and huge success story. I suggested that every company attempt to trade internationally and marketing their products worldwide must consider the culture issues, the economic situation and political factors of that foreign country in related to chosen products to trade. This led them to make their decisions and reflect the required changes to make on their products in relation with foreign country interest. As we can reflect from the above discussion, Egypt and Iran have very strict culture at how women dress up which not allowing them to expose any part of their body. Bottled Water Essay
Water a very important part of our daily lives. We use it for many things but most importantly we drink it. So want it flavor, some want it cold others want it from the bottle some donââ¬â¢t care is long is they get six cups a day. What it comes down to is where we get it from. Do you buy it at a store or do you just use the tap at home. Some reasons why you should buy it are convenience and safety. Tap has itââ¬â¢s positives as well like it is healthier and better for the environment. Here are the arguments for both sides and there counter arguments. Bottled water convenience helps out a lot of people around the world. When we need to get water to a shelter or to a third world country the easiest and best way is bottled water. It is always there and has a good shelf life. It was there to help people from Hurricanes to Blood drives. It is easily transportable and accessible. The convenience of bottled water also helps people more likely to drink water in the amount they need and as a substitute for other drinks like soda. Bottled water is also safer to drink because it is easier to recall if there is something wrong with it. They are always testing and sampling the water and if something is wrong they know what batch is bad and where it went. It is easy to get the water back and ship out safe water to where ever the recall was. In some places bottled water is the only thing safe to drink. When disasters strike or a tap water system is not in place bottled water is the safest thing you can drink. Tap water is a lot healthier for you than bottled water. It is tested more and has more regulations than bottled water. With more regulations the water has less harmful chemicals and therefore more healthier for you. Tap water like bottled water is regulated by the FDA. While they are both regulated by the FDA tap water has more regulations and more testing than bottled water. Being that tap water is distributed to everyone practically free it has to be better regulated for everyoneââ¬â¢s well being. Tap water is also better for the environment. This makes it better for you. With less plastic being used there is less toxins and water being produced. People who drink tap water usually just use a metal bottle and re-use it all the time. Tap water does not come in a container of plastic it comes from your faucet. Using a re usable container like glasses pitchers and re-usable water bottles does far less damage to the environment than plastic water bottles. Even though we can re-cycle plastic it doesnââ¬â¢t mean that it is really helps the environment. Most water bottles donââ¬â¢t even get recycled they get tossed in with all the other trash that does not get recycled. One is safer one is healthier. One helps out people in crisis while the other causes less damage to the environment as a whole. Bottled and tap water both have their benefits. Both have there purposes and are beneficial to society. Bottled water is convenient and safe while Tap is better for the environment and healthier. So open the cap or turn on the faucet and drink up. Cause we all need it.

The War Of The World War I - 1523 Words
Itââ¬â¢s been over a century since Austria declared war on Serbia. The assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand, in Sarajevo on June 28, 1914, sparked a war that was to end all others. It clearly did not. Countless wars and conflicts have been fought since, each evolving into something different than the last. As a result, modern warfare has evolved into something completely different than that of a century ago. Although war is fought for fundamentally the same reasons, warfare, as it is practiced today, is different from that of World War I. This is primarily due to the rise of counterinsurgency operations, the focus on air superiority and the use of technology, such as unmanned aerial vehicles, which have led to the decline of mass army against army war. Characterized by the declaration of war, the amassing of vast battlefield formations, and the use of new technologies, such as the machine gun and airplane, World War I was the epitome of conventional war. The myriad o f alliances across Europe in the early 20th century allowed military leaders to carefully craft offensive plans of war focused on the weaknesses of known enemies and designed to swiftly defeat opposing military forces. For example, Germanyââ¬â¢s Schlieffen Plan ââ¬Å"assumed that the Reich could only win a two-front war by crushing France before Russia could mobilize.â⬠Capitalizing on the lightly defended French north, a result of Franceââ¬â¢s assumption that Belgiumââ¬â¢s neutrality would not be violated, andShow MoreRelatedThe War Of The World War I902 Words à |à 4 Pages War has been a terrible part of the human existence since the beginning of time.
